Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about FAWUS
Is this a full-time fellowship?
No — it's designed to fit alongside your current clinical job. Most learning is asynchronous and the program is flexible to accommodate working physicians.
Do I need to relocate?
No. Fellows stay based at their current hospital or institution. All clinical work is done locally with your mentor. The program is primarily virtual.
Can I apply from any country?
Yes. The program is international and welcomes clinicians from all regions worldwide. WINFOCUS operates in 176 countries.
How much does it cost? Is there funding available?
Fellows must pay tuition or obtain sponsorship. Partial scholarships may be available for qualified applicants. Most fellows are self-sponsored or supported by their institution. Contact us at fellowship@winfocus.org for current tuition and scholarship information.
Do I get an official certificate?
Yes. Graduates receive the WINFOCUS Advanced Ultrasound Fellowship Certificate and can use the FAWUS title. You'll also be recognized at the WINFOCUS graduation ceremony.
What are the technical requirements?
You'll need a reliable internet connection for online modules and virtual sessions, access to ultrasound equipment at your institution for scanning practice, and basic computer skills for completing coursework through the WINFOCUS Academy platform.
Can I continue working while in the program?
Yes, absolutely. The program is specifically designed to be completed alongside your clinical work. The virtual format and flexible scheduling allow you to balance fellowship requirements with your professional responsibilities.
How long does the application process take?
The application review process typically takes 4-6 weeks. We review applications on a rolling basis. Early applications are encouraged as spots are limited for each cohort.
Do I need a local mentor?
Yes. Applicants must identify at least one local mentor who will supervise your clinical scanning and provide guidance throughout the program. You'll also have access to global WINFOCUS mentors.
What happens after I complete the fellowship?
Graduates become part of the WINFOCUS educator network and alumni community, receive priority consideration for WINFOCUS faculty positions, gain presentation opportunities at international meetings, and are equipped to lead ultrasound education programs in their communities.
